October has been a month to help our children become more aware of the needs of people in countries in addition to our own. Each year NDES students contribute funds to assist children around the world through the Missionary Childhood Association, Notre Dame Global Missions, and others.

The mission drive runs from October 19 - 31. Each child is asked to make an initial donation of $2.00 and will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of the three Halloween mascots. All proceeds will benefit the St. Julie School in Africa and renew the contributions of education, housing, food and clothing for the three Aloysia children.

NDES supports Dwarfism Awareness Month.  To build positive awareness and dispell misconceptions regarding Dwarfism, Dr. Michelle Platz speaks to students about "What is Big." She is also the mother of Max Platz, a student at NDES that has achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism.

As part of the Notre Dame Elementary School mission statment our school "reaches out to others according to Gospel values."   We offer the opportunity for all 8th grade students to reach out to others through service this year.  Students perform 20 hours of service outside of NDES,  during their 8th grade year.  Ten hours of service are completed by the end of January.

Colin Boland Fun Run
Sponsored by NDES
Date: October 6, 2017 @ 8:30am

NDES in partnership with the Colin Boland Memorial sponsors an in-school Fun Run in honor of Colin Boland, a student of NDES who tragically lost his life in October of 2010.   All students run or walk for a mile and can purchase t-shirts or donate money toward the Colin Boland Memorial Fund.

The Colin Boland Memorial Fund focuses charitable efforts on the needs of children in Colin’s age group. They believe that children and those that care for them do not deserve to fight battles on their own, including: life-changing illness, restraints on education, detrimental material losses and untimely loss of loved ones.
