Religion
Students continue to deepen their experience with God. Through daily writing in their prayer journals, students reflect on daily scripture readings. Students discuss with their class about the life and teachings of Jesus and how to apply Jesus teachings to our daily lives.
Mathematics
Students use the College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM). Core Connections, Course 3 is the second of a three-year sequence of courses designed to prepare students for a rigorous college preparatory algebra course. The principles of CPM course design problem-based lessons, collaborative student work, and spaced practice are based on the methodological research for teaching mathematics that leads to conceptual understanding.

English Language Arts
Student writing is based on novels read in class. Through a variety of literature students to write opinion papers and learn to cite and paraphrase text and use evidence to support their ideas. As young writers, students hone their grammar and sentence structure with journal writing and practicing various different writing styles. Students continue to make inferences and compare and contrast characters from different novels. Students also construct speeches emphasizing on hooks and transitions and present them to the class.

Science
Students learn through direct teacher-led inquiry and independent investigation to explore and engage in the following areas: Science, Technology, and Engineering. At the beginning of the year, students begin a four month inquiry and apply the Scientific Method as they conduct experiments and participate in the annual Science and Engineering Fair.

Social Studies
Students explore how political, social, and economic factors have shaped early American History and modern society. Critical thinking skills are strengthened through inquiry based learning and meaningful activities, discussions, and projects. Students will also experience “Reality Day” where they are tasked with budgeting for real life situations. Towards the end of the year, students will go to Washington DC, Gettysburg, and Shanksville, PA to experience and explore the different places they have learned so much about.
