All students enjoy a story read to them after, they check out books.
Monthly themes (holidays, political events, authors b-day).
Authors are introduced to the students by the librarian through story time and recommendations.
Every grade has basic library skills taught to them.
Students are tested for comprehension reading zones where they are encouraged to read books and write book reports.
What is STAR Reader?
STAR Reader is a computer program that helps teachers and the librarian manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Your child picks a book at his own level and reads it at his own pace. When finished, your child can write a book report. Students are tested for their reading two times a year.
